Family Room B&B

Family rooms in Edinburgh bed and breakfasts are infrequent because most B&Bs are single or double rooms in converted houses.

Our B+B is different. You will stay in a  purpose-built accommodation wing, designed to meet your needs.  We offer three large en suite rooms, all of which have up to 5 bed spaces.  All three are en suite, far away from the road and very quiet and peaceful. 

Each room can be either a family room, twin, triple or double - they are too big to be just single rooms although occasionally, if we are quiet, we may offer a single person a family room for a reduced price.

The BIG advantage of staying with us is the sheer CAPACITY of our family rooms, the size and comfort that allows whole families to stay together without being split into different rooms. 

Each room has a television and DVD Player - we have a selection of DVDs from which you can borrow free of charge. En suite facilities including a power shower.  It has been said by many guests that our rooms are SUPERIOR to those found in 'fancy hotels'.  We tend to agree!

There is separate key access for your room area so you don't have to come through the main house each time you come and go - it’s a bit like having your own flat. A path leads from the access door up to our free car park at the front.

Big rooms also work for large groups, for example tourists visiting Edinburgh in large numbers or Rugby fans attending Internationals at nearby Murrayfield Rugby Stadium. 

Also nearby is The Royal Highland Centre which stages, amongst other exhibitions, The Royal Highland Show and Scottish Motorcycle Show.

Arthurs Seat, Edinburgh
Nobody really knows where the name came from though many speculate. Suffice to say there’s an 823’ very climbable extinct volcano called Arthur’s Seat right next to Edinburgh town centre - BEAT THAT! (images)

Edinburgh Airport is 1.5 miles from Edinburgh Bed and Breakfast, Edinburgh City Centre 3 miles,  Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Rugby Stadium 1 mile and Royal Highland Centre 1 mile (Edinburgh Royal Highland Show, Scottish Motor Cycle Show, Concerts etc). 

Edinburgh Bed & Breakfast, Craigievar, is a traditional, tastefully extended large bungalow, set back from the main Edinburgh Airport / Edinburgh city centre road, offering beautiful and quiet double, triple and family rooms overlooking a private back garden, accessible by guests.

Edinburgh - Roads and Travel latest information..Edinburgh B+B offers easy access to the central Scotland motorway network, Edinburgh City By-Pass, Edinburgh Zoo, major local 24 hour shopping centre, sports complex nearby. Many restaurants are within walking distance including Italian and Chinese. Not forgetting the ‘Barbecue’, a popular high quality chip shop, AND Edinburgh’s finest TOBY CARVERY!

Edinburgh’s parking restrictions don’t count because Edinburgh Bed and Breakfast offers off-street FREE PARKING for up to seven cars on the neat, monoblocked front.  Edinburgh Bed and Breakfast sits on a major Edinburgh bus route, including night buses in and out of town (around 10 minutes). Edinburgh City Centre can be reached using any bus stopping outside. Plan your times using an Edinburgh Lothian Buses timetable based on the 31 or X48 bus.

Edinburgh Bed and Breakfast is child friendly. Carry cots & high chairs are available if required, as are games suitable for adults and children. There’s a television in each room.

Edinburgh City Centre is easily accessed without a car using the bus stop directly outside our B+B offering three buses directly into town. So you can leave your car here, bus into town and see the sites without fear of traffic wardens. The 31 bus runs every ten minutes - there are many more too. Your journey into Edinburgh City Centre from Edinburgh bed and Breakfast takes around ten to 15 minutes, sometimes less - a very quick service speeded up by the 'Greenways' special bus and taxi lanes. There are night buses too!

A taxi into Edinburgh City Centre is around 10GBP. A taxi to or from Edinburgh airport costs about 7GBP, which may vary depending upon traffic volume. This is your best option if you have no car, especially if you have luggage. The Edinburgh Airport/City Centre bus is cheaper for one person at 3.30GBP (5GBP return) but leaves you a 300 metres walk to/from Craigievar - so travel light (or take a taxi). Airport buses run a 24hr service. Bus Timetables can be found at Craigievar.

Sometimes, holiday accommodation can be a bit hit and miss. You can book somewhere that looks lovely on the outside only to find that it is not quite so lovely inside. The standard of your accommodation can make or break your holiday, so it is important to know what to look for when you are about to book a room.

Bed and breakfast accommodation is often a popular choice with families, because it is substantially better value than paying for a hotel or renting a holiday cottage or a city centre apartment. An Edinburgh bed and breakfast that does not offer family rooms is limiting its appeal to visitors. Check with the bed and breakfast owner to see if they offer the convenience of family rooms.

Care and attention

Does the building look like the owners care for it? You can usually tell by the pictures on the website or on a brochure whether the outside of the building is in good condition. A building that looks dilapidated on the outside may be no better once you get through the front door.

Parking

Is there provision for parking? Many Edinburgh bed and breakfasts, by their nature and location, are in small streets, terraced buildings or cottages.

This means that parking is usually limited to on-street spaces that, in a busy city like Edinburgh, can be difficult to find. If your bed and breakfast has dedicated parking, it relieves you of some of the pressure.
